"Welcoming the World to Greenwich" – Come and join the party

Photo-chris-robertsRecognised as the home of time and famous for being the source of the Prime Meridian Line, Greenwich has a long and rich heritage. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, Greenwich is known for historic landmarks such as the National Maritime Museum, the Old Royal Naval College and the Cutty Sark.

An international tourist destination, we welcome over nine million visitors to Greenwich each year to experience our vibrant mix of history and culture.

Visitors also come for the entertainment. The Greenwich Festivals provide some of the best and most varied in London - from street theatre to comedy and film, music to suit all tastes and invigorating dance performances.

Since earliest times Greenwich has had associations with the sea and navigation and it will be fantastic to celebrate Greenwich’s historical maritime connections by hosting a flotilla of majestic Tall Ships from around the world on the River Thames.

In 2012, Greenwich will provide a number of iconic venues for the Olympic and Paralympic Games and will also be appointed Royal Borough status.

The Greenwich Festivals programme will be making an exciting and distinctive contribution to the party atmosphere during this time, of which Sail Royal Greenwich will be a part.

We are delighted that Sail Royal Greenwich will become a regular fixture in The Greenwich Festivals calendar and look forward to welcoming everyone to be a part of this maritime celebration for years to come.
